Acadia Students’ Union believes in and upholds the values of integrity, excellence, and respect, while recognizing the importance of fun, community spirit, and the tradition upon which the Union was founded.

All complaints remain entirely confidential and the identity of those who submit them will not be shared with anyone.

Principles

The ASU shall ensure that Union Elections are administered in accordance with the ASU’s mission, vision, and values and that Union Elections shall be:

  • Fair and equitable for all participants;

  • Administered in a manner that is independent and impartial;

  • Transparent and accountable;

  • Democratic;

  • Environmentally and financially sustainable; and

  • Grounded in professionalism and respect for all parties.

The ASU shall ensure that Union Elections are administered in accordance with the ASU’s mission, vision, and values and that Union Elections shall be:

Election Administration

  • The Election will be organized and managed by the Chief Returning Officer (the “CRO”) and the Deputy Chief Returning Officer (the “DCRO”), jointly referred to as the “Election Team”.

  • The Election Team shall be responsible for the organization and execution of the Election in accordance with these terms and the governing documents of the ASU, which include but are not limited to its by-laws, policies, and regulations.

  • The Election Team shall discharge their duties in a fair and impartial manner.

  • The Election Team will hold weekly office hours, which will be communicated to students and candidates in a method determined by the CRO.

  • Council may appoint an Elections Committee in accordance with the ASU’s by-laws. The absence of an Elections Committee will not invalidate any element of the Election or these terms

Referendum Question #1 (Food Sharing): 

The question did not meet the required threshold to be considered valid (15% of eligible voters, not counting undecided votes). Therefore, the referendum does not pass.

The question did not meet the required threshold to be considered valid (15% of eligible voters, not counting undecided votes). Therefore, the referendum does not pass.
