
Referendum Information
Referendums allow Acadia students to vote directly on key issues that affect student life and how the ASU operates. Your participation helps shape future decisions and the direction of the Union.
As part of the 2026 Winter ASU General Elections, there will be three referendum questions on the ballot.
Before voting, take a moment to review each question and understand what a Yes or No vote means. Details for each question are provided below.

From January 5 at 8 AM to January 22 at 8 pm
The nomination period is key to the election process, and more students running means more excitement, fresh ideas, and healthy competition, making the election more dynamic for everyone. On January 5th, check your inbox, www.acadiastudents.ca or our socials for the Nomination Form link and nominate yourself or a friend!

Nominating Is Quick & Easy — Here’s How

📩 Find the Nomination Form (Jan 5): Available in your Acadia inbox, on the ASU website, and on ASU socials.
✍️ Complete the form: Fill it out with your info and the role you’re running for.
👥 Get 25 signatures: Collect support from 25 Acadia students.
📤 Submit & get verified: Submit your completed form with signatures. Once approved, you’re officially a candidate.

#2 ALL CANDIDATES MEETING
January 25, from 6 to 8 PM at the Beveridge Forum in The Students’ Union Building, aka The SUB.
The All Candidates Meeting follows the nomination period and serves as the first meeting between the ASU Election Team and confirmed candidates. It provides key information on the election process, campaign rules, guidelines, and deadlines to help candidates prepare for their campaigns.
#3 CAMPAIGN
From January 26 at 8 AM to February 8 at 8 PM
Get to know the candidates, their ideas, and their vision for Acadia. This is your chance to see who will represent your interests and shape student life. Don’t forget to talk to your peers, share ideas, and discuss the elections. When voting opens, be ready to cast your vote and help shape The ASU’s leadership. Your vote matters!
#4 DEBATE NIGHT
February 4 6 to 8 PM at The SUB,main level
Join us for Debate Night in The SUB to hear directly from the candidates about their ideas, plans, and vision for improving student life on campus. This is the perfect moment to learn how they plan to make a difference on campus. In just a few days, you’ll have the chance to vote and help shape the future of The ASU for the upcoming year. Don’t miss out—attend, get informed, and make your voice heard!
#5 VOTING
From February 9 at 8 AM to February 12 at 8 PM
Voting is the final step. By now, you’ve had the chance to get informed by attending events, and learning about the candidates during the campaign. Check your Acadia inbox on February 9 for the voting link—it’s quick and easy! Make it count, Acadia—get your vote in!
