ASU Elections: Get Involved
Every year, The ASU holds a Winter General Election to elect student leaders who will shape campus life, advocate for students, and bring new ideas forward. In the fall, a By-Election helps fill any remaining positions—keeping things moving and ensuring every role is represented.
Elections aren’t just about voting—they’re about getting informed, starting conversations, and being part of something bigger. Talk with your peers, share perspectives, and help build momentum around the issues that matter to Acadia students.
Nominations are a key part of this process. The more candidates who step forward, the more ideas, energy, and perspectives enter the conversation. A strong pool of candidates leads to more engaging elections—and better outcomes for everyone.
Whether you’re thinking about running or just want to stay informed, this is your chance to be part of how student leadership takes shape at Acadia.

Winter General Election
Each winter, The ASU holds its General Election to elect student leaders who will represent Acadia students, lead initiatives, and shape the direction of student life on campus.
The process includes a few key steps:
-
Nominations Open – Students are invited to put their names forward or nominate a peer. This step is especially important—having a strong pool of candidates for each role leads to more ideas, better conversations, and a more engaging election overall.
-
Candidates Meeting – All candidates attend a mandatory session to review expectations, rules, and campaign guidelines.
-
Campaign Period – Candidates share their platforms, connect with students, and build awareness around their ideas. This is your chance to learn, ask questions, and engage in conversations that matter.
-
Voting Period – Students cast their votes and choose the leaders who will represent them.
This is more than just an election—it’s an opportunity to get informed, connect with your peers, and take part in shaping your campus experience. Whether you’re nominating, running, or voting, your participation makes a difference.

In the fall, The ASU runs a By-Election to fill any positions that remain vacant after the General Election, ensuring all student voices are represented.
The process follows the same core steps:
-
Nominations Open – Another opportunity to step into a leadership role and bring new ideas forward.
-
Candidates Meeting – Candidates receive key information about the process and expectations.
-
Campaign Period – Share your vision, connect with students, and contribute to the conversation.
-
Voting Period – Students vote to fill the remaining positions.
The By-Election keeps the momentum going. It’s a chance to get involved, stay engaged, and strengthen student representation throughout the year.
