Student Leadership Awards
The Bank of Montreal and the Acadia Students’ Union are proud to announce that April 1st, 2020 will mark the Annual BMO Leadership Awards Night. This is an event designed to recognize those leaders at Acadia University who have shown outstanding dedication to the Acadia Community. Below you will find a complete list of awards. Nominate a leader today!

Freshman of the Year
This award is given to the student in their first year at Acadia University deemed the most outstanding among their peers.
Sophomore of the Year
This award is given to the student in their second year at Acadia University deemed the most outstanding among their peers.
Junior of the Year
This award is given to the student in their third year at Acadia University deemed the most outstanding among their peers.
Senior of the Year
This award is given to the student in their final year at Acadia University deemed the most outstanding among their peers.
Graduate Student of the Year
This award is given to the graduate student deemed the most outstanding among their peers.
SRC Member of the Year
This award is given to a student on the SRC who has risen above the expectations of their position.
ASU Member of the Year
Is an award given to a member of the ASU who has displayed characteristics that are of value of the ASU.
Club of the Year
This award is given to a club on campus who has illustrated excellence all around and contributed to the growth of the campus through their group.
House Council of the Year
This award is given to the ASU House Council which represents its students in an exemplarily way.
Internal Organization Award
This award is given to an Internal Organization of the ASU who has made a significant difference in student life on campus and went above and beyond what is expected out of an internal organization.
Volunteer of the Year
This award is given to a student that dedicates countless hours into volunteering and deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication to one or numerous causes.
Ruth Petrykanyn Award
The Ruth Petrykanyn Memorial Award is presented annually to a student entering the final year of undergraduate studies, who has made significant contributions to the enhancement of student life at Acadia. Preference will be given to a student holding American citizenship; however, in the event that there are no eligible candidates from the United States of America, the award will be made to any worthy student. This award is in memory of Ruth Petrykanyn, BA ’02, BJ (Kings) ’03. Ruth was the president of the Acadia Students’ Union during the 2000-2001 academic year and the President of Cutten House from 1998-1999. A monetary award of $1,250 will be presented to this recipient.
ASU Commitment Award
This person eat sleeps and breaths the student union. This student represents everything that the union sets out to accomplish and is committed to their role.
ASU Leadership Award
This award is given to the student at Acadia University who has shown the greatest leadership abilities throughout the current year.
Bob Stead Award
Awarded to a University Staff Member who goes over and above to contributing to positive student life here at Acadia.
Teaching Recognition Award
This award is given to any professor or instructor who has been nominated for their outstanding work by a student. Nomination for this award requires a write-up for the reason for nomination.
Teaching Assistant Award
Awarded to TAs of any program who go above and beyond the call of duty to support their students. These TAs are able to clarify difficult material for students, and are responsive to students' needs. Nomination for this award must be done by a student and requires a write-up for the reason for nomination.
