Carmen Peng
Sustainability Councillor
Period 2024-2025
Carmen Peng (she/her) is the Sustainable Councillor for the 2024-25 term.
As a second year Biology student, Carmen loves gardening and all things nature. She is very excited to step into this role to promote sustainable techniques and ways of life to the Acadia community.
In her role as Sustainable Councillor, Carmen hopes to organize campus-wide events that combine environmental education with fun. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to connect with Carmen.
Treyvon Nicolls

Meet Treyvon Nicolls one of our Councillors at Large for the term 2024-2025. Treyvon is a second year Computer Science student.
His primary goals are to promote inclusivity amongst all students regardless of background, ethnicity, gender or abilities, and to enhance communication between students, professors and administration to ensure student concerns and feedback are heard and addressed.
Treyvon enjoys advocating for policies and practices that benefit the entire student body and promoting student engagement. As Councillor at Large, it is Treyvon’s duty to advocate for all students, making certain that their voices are heard and to collaborate with student organizations and clubs to promote student engagement and extracurricular activities.

Meet Emma Boles our Councillor-at-Large for the 2023-2024 term.
Emma, a second-year Politics major, is dedicated to enhancing campus accessibility and strengthening communication between the ASU and its club affiliates.
In her role, Emma will actively participate in various ASU meetings and serve on several committees to effectively advocate for students.

Danielle Dulay is our dedicated Diversity and Inclusion Councillor for the term of 2024-2025. Through her leadership and initiatives, she endeavors to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community where all voices are heard and valued.
Cyenna Link
Community Relations Councillor

Meet Cyenna Link the Community Relations Councillor for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Cyenna is a fifth-year Community Development student who is also enrolled in the co-op program. Her primary focus this year will be to act as a liaison between Acadia students and the Town of Wolfville. Cyenna has a strong passion for community engagement and is always looking for ways to connect various community groups.

Julia Shirokov
Science Senator

She/Her
Julia Shirokov is the Pure and Applied Science Senator for the 2024-2025 term. Julia is a Mathematics and Statistics Honours student who will graduate after her fourth year at Acadia in spring of 2025.
She was the Pure and Applied Science Senator for 2023-2024 and is excited and honoured to return to the role and represent students in her department.
Julia is passionate about involvement, communication, and engagement within the sciences, and is always open to questions or comments via email!
Sophia Carpenter
Professional Studies Senator

Meet Sophia Carpenter, our Professional Studies Senator for the 2024-2025 term. Sophia is a third-year Accounting major and Acadia Women in Business Society's current Vice President of Engagement.
She enjoys reading, yoga, spending time with family and friends, binging The Office, and travelling. Thus far, Sophia's time at Acadia has been highlighted by volunteering, TA work, helping organize events such as International Women’s Day and Relay for Life, and meeting new people.
Sophia looks forward to connecting with fellow students across the diverse community of the Professional Studies Faculty and is honoured to represent her peers in the Senate this year. Her primary goal is to advocate for policies and ideas that support the best interests of the students in our professional community.

To Be Elected in the Fall By-election, our Graduate Studies Representative will be a dedicated advocate, championing the unique challenges and aspirations of our graduate student body. Will also serve as a proactive voice, ensuring that the concerns and goals of our graduate community are heard and addressed effectively
Governance Officers
The Governance Committee is established to deal with all matters concerning the governance of the Union, the Bylaws, and policies, or any matters referred to it by Council; (b) The committee shall be responsible for reviewing the Bylaws, including any additions or amendments prior to appearing in a referendum for ratification, and ensuring that they are consistent with and reflective of the values of the Union

Sam Taylor

Meet Sam Taylor, our Interim President for the 2024-2025 year.
Sam is a 4th year student in the Honours Psychology and Biology program. They plan to advocate for student issues through student consultation and education. Sam enjoys meeting new people and having meaningful conversations.
As the Interim President, they will engage in conversations with students from various backgrounds to gain a hollistic view of student issues on our campus, then bring those voices to conversations with university staff and government officials. Archit Singh

Archit Singh is a dedicated and ambitious student, currently in his second year of majoring in Business Administration.
He holds the position of Vice President of Finance & Operations (term 2024-2025) at the Acadia Students’ Union. In his role, Archit is responsible for securing sponsorships, a task he approaches with a strategic mindset and a keen understanding of marketing principles.Moreover, Archit oversees the financial stability of the Union, demonstrating his proficiency in financial management and operations. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to transparency ensure the Union’s finances are managed with the utmost integrity.
Archit is not just passionate about his role but is also deeply committed to the welfare of the Students’ Union. His determination and eagerness to make a difference are evident in his proactive approach to problem-solving and his continuous efforts to improve the Union’s operations.

Meet Zahide Çam (she/her), our Vice-President Events and Promotions for the term 2024-2025. Zahide is a second-year standing Women’s and Gender Studies student. Her primary goal this year is to create enjoyable environments for students and communicate the existence of those environments to the Acadia community!
Zahide particularly enjoys thriving for equitable spaces and keeping the engagement going through events that bring the Acadia community together. Luckily, as the VP Events and Promotions, it is Zahide’s responsibility to organize a variety of events for Orientation Weeks and HOCO and to ensure everybody is having fun safely! She also gets student feedback on ASU social media channels to contribute to the improvement of those channels.

Meet Sterling Shannon (he/him), our new Vice-president of student life for the 2024-2025 term.
Sterling is a fourth year political science student with a passion for community building. His goal this year is to create an engaging student atmosphere with plenty of opportunities to get involved. His role as VP of Student Life is to ensure that student organizations like Clubs and associations are getting their voices heard, and getting the supports they need.
